Genesis – In Concert 1976
Laserdisc, 12", NTSC
- is a live album by the British progressive rock band Genesis, released in 1992.
The album captures a series of performances from their 1976 tour, which supported their album "A Trick of the Tail."
This tour marked a significant transition for Genesis, as it was their first without original lead vocalist Peter Gabriel, who had departed the band in 1975.
The album features the lineup of Phil Collins on lead vocals, drums, and percussion; Tony Banks on keyboards; Mike Rutherford on guitars and bass; Steve Hackett on guitars; and Chester Thompson on drums.
Some of the standout tracks on "Genesis – In Concert 1976" include "Supper's Ready," showcasing the band's complex compositions and virtuosic musicianship.
While the album received mixed reviews upon its release, it has since been appreciated by fans as a document of Genesis' transition period and for its performances of classic progressive rock material. It offers a glimpse into the band's live prowess during a pivotal moment in their history.
LaserDisc,
-often stylized as Laserdisc, was a home video format that was popular primarily in the 1980s and 1990s.
It was one of the earliest forms of optical disc storage and playback technology for video.
LaserDiscs were 12-inch optical discs that stored analog video and sometimes digital audio. They offered better video quality than VHS tapes, the dominant home video format of the time, and were often used by videophiles and enthusiasts who wanted the best possible home viewing experience.
However, LaserDiscs never achieved mass-market success due to several factors, including their high cost, the need for special players, and the inability to record onto the discs.
Additionally, the introduction of DVD technology in the late 1990s quickly surpassed LaserDisc in popularity, leading to its eventual decline and discontinuation.
Despite its relatively short lifespan, LaserDiscs left a lasting legacy as an early precursor to modern optical disc formats and as a niche favorite among collectors and enthusiasts for its unique features and collectibility.
