Trained under Shigemasa Itsusai Kasama for over 15 years, he received the prestigious “Shige” pace and adopted the name Shigemasa. Noteworthy as both an Army and Navy Swordsmith, Shigemasa’s talents extended beyond swordsmithing. He created a Tanto for Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, the commander-in-chief of the Imperial Japanese Navy’s Combined Fleet during World War II. His post-war endeavors led him to become a recognized Japanese art master.
