2 Chinese porcelain cup and saucers long Eliza –China- Yongzheng period.
On offer are 2 small blue-white Chinese porcelain cup and saucers, decorated with a long Eliza (mei nun) sitting on a rock in the garden, under a banana tree. She is sitting and waiting for her beloved, under the moonlight, in the evening. This is probably a scene from the love story “The romance of the West Chamber”, written in the late 13th. Century by Wang Shifu. The mentioned long Eliza is Cui Yingying. Difficult to find a set of 2 cup and saucers with the same pattern. Rare! Provenance: From a private Dutch collection from Noord Holland province.
Date: Late Kangxi or Yongzheng period ca. 1710-1730.
Size: Cups measure 5cm across. Saucers measure 8cm across.
Condition: Good! 1 cup with a 1mm restored fleabite only. Invisible. 1 cup with a clean 8mm hairline and a restored chip. Both saucers are in excellent condition! No damage!
