【Important notes】 ・International Buyers: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility. ・Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying. These duties are paid to your country's customs office and not to us. Prompt payment of these fees is necessary to ensure delivery of your item. ・We deeply value your understanding regarding the blade's export process. The duration to secure an export permit might extend up to a month, and shipping, based on the destination, could take an additional month. In some instances, sea freight may be chosen, which might lengthen the delivery period to 2-3 months. ・Considering the diligence required for export permit procedures, we'd like to emphasize the importance of commitment after purchase. If the auction is annulled post-confirmation, there's a need to retract the said permit. In such situations, to cover administrative efforts, a fee equating to 10% of the auction's final amount would be requested via PayPal. ・We kindly request bids from those who fully acknowledge these conditions. Please be informed that the original registration document is required to be returned to official authorities, so a copy will be provided with the sword. ・Austria prohibits the import of swords, so please refrain from bidding. 【Product details】 A beautifully crafted antique wakizashi from the Edo period, complete with a full sword mounting and a plain wood storage scabbard. The plain scabbard contains a real blade, while the lacquered scabbard contains a wooden blade with the complete mounting set. The blade collar is made of pure silver, and the hilt ornaments feature a chrysanthemum motif. The tsuba (hand guard) is round, made of copper, and decorated with a shell motif and gold inlay, though some of the inlay is missing. In Japanese symbolism, the chrysanthemum often represents the Imperial family, nobility, and rejuvenation, while the shell can symbolize protection, wealth, and good fortune. The wakizashi comes with a copy of its Firearms and Swords Registration Certificate (Aomori No. 6587), as the original will be returned to the authorities. The certificate, reissued on November 28, 1989, states that the blade measures 43.5 cm in length with a curvature of 0.8 cm, has one peg hole, and bears no signature on the tang. It comes with a couple of silk bags for storage and protection. The condition shows some signs of age and wear, including a missing peg on the plain scabbard, a small nick at the tip of the blade (Please refer to images 12 and 13), small scratches on the lacquer of the scabbard, a noticeable crack in the ray skin on one side of the handle, and patina on the metal fittings. Please refer to the provided photos for a detailed look at the condition. The sword stand is not included. Length of scabbard: 68 cm Length of the blade: 56 cm ・Please make sure to review all the provided information and images before placing your bid. ・We make every effort to accurately represent the product's colors and textures in our photos. However, due to differences in monitors and device displays, as well as photographic conditions, slight color variations between the photos and the actual product may occur.
