Danish polymath Piet Hein was not only a scientist, mathematician, inventor, writer and poet, but also one of the leading masters of mid-century Danish design. Piet Hein designed this elegant 7-armed candelabra while living in Argentina in 1943. Inspired by the constellation Ursa Major (“Great Bear”, “The Plough”, or “Big Dipper”), it was the first in a series of candleholders based on star formations and the planets.
The Great Bear Candelabra is made from brushed stainless steel. This is the MINI example of the Great Bear, 38 cm in height. The 7 candlesticks can be individually adjusted and placed in a straight line or a circle (see stock photo #4). It is in unused (mint) condition without original packing. There are no dents, cracks or other patina. The stem is labelled with the Piet Hein logo.
In addition, an unused box of 12 unused 1.3 cm x 18 cm white wax candles are included (photos #13-18).
I take great care packing (see reviews) and I ship securely with insurance.
