Modern Tokyo Zue Issei Suda Zen Photo Gallery/2020/English,Japanese/200 × 200 mm Kazumasa Suda, who sadly passed away in March 2019, began photographing his native Kanda and the surrounding area on 35mm film in 1979, the same year that one of his best-known works, "My Tokyo 100" was published, and from 1982 to the following year, he published his work with a text by photography critic Masao Tanaka in Asahi Camera In 1982 and the following year, Suda's photographs were published in Asahi Camera as "Modern Tokyo Zue" along with text by photo critic Masao Tanaka. Now, some 40 years later, Suda's work has been revived for the first time in the form of a collection of photographs. Although the title "Contemporary" is used, it does not refer to the present day, but to Tokyo around 1980. (omission) Ten years have passed since then. Mr. Tanaka, who was smiling beside me, has passed away, and the changed landscape, the unchanged landscape, and the modern Tokyo of 2018 are there now. Even with this image before his eyes, "My Tokyo" still occasionally takes us back to the present day, 36 years ago.
