Fiat - 900 Shango - 1981

Fiat 900 SHANGO - The smallest Camper van in history! Very rare, in Italy approx. 16 units altogether were registered. Inspection valid until November 2020 The vehicle is original and had only 2 owners. The engine runs really well. It has some rust spots on the wheel arches and on some other parts of the body. They are highlighted in the photos. As shown in photos, the bodywork has some defects due to ageing. It has never been restored, only the paint was retouched. Colour, engine and interior are all original. This camper van was created exclusively in this ochre yellow colour. The bottom is in good condition. Inside it’s original, except for the front backrest. It’s equipped with sink and cooker. All that is present in the camper van can be seen in the photos. The vehicle can be viewed in Forlì (Italy). A bit of history about the 900 SHANGO. In 1978, in the middle of its production, the range was integrated with a camper van version called Shango, which maintained the bodywork of the minibus but with a raised white fibreglass pop top (hinged on the left side) and a proper tarp. This solution allowed to obtain two beds when the roof was opened (consisting of two folding beds which could be rolled out from the external sides and hooked at the roof centre). The project was identical to that already undertaken on the English market, where this version of the 900T was called ‘Amigo’, and then it was called ‘Pandora’ with the appearance of the 900E. The upholstery had changed; on the front the seat remained the same and the backrest was joined and ‘double-faced’, since the central bench (which served as a storage compartment) was attached to it in the opposite direction. The rear bench was advanced, leaving room for a chipboard cabinet hidden by the backs (consisting of simple cushions) and a kitchenette with sink. That’s why it had a water tank under the floor with a capacity of 30 litres. The colour of the body was only ochre yellow. In the seventies the ‘Shango’ was the smallest camper van on the market (alongside Fiat 238 Andal and Fiat 242 Kavir, always in the same colour) but the high road price (£6,435,000) and the reduced roominess made it a failure. This vehicle can be viewed in Forlì, Italy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- There may be temporary delays in vehicle deliveries in the coming weeks.
