Andor György Ikafalvi-Dienes (born, December 18, 1913 – April 11, 1985), known as André de Dienes, was a Hungarian photographer, noted for his work with Marilyn Monroe and his nude photography.
André De Dienes took Norma Jeane by car on a journey of several days to take photographs in natural landscapes. Their first destination was Death Valley, in the Mojave Desert in the southern United States. It is the lowest, driest and hottest place in North America. The photographer planned to have Norma Jeane pose nude in the wilderness, a project he eventually abandoned, out of modesty towards his model, but above all because of the photographer's deep feelings for Norma Jeane. The car journey took hours, and they walked up steep winding paths. In the evening, they stayed in separate bungalows at the Furnace Creek Hotel Inc, in the heart of Death Valley.
