Der Rotary Club Berlin veranstaltet seine erste virtuelle Kunstauktion. Kunstliebhaber können über 50 Gemälde, Fotografien und Objekte von namhaften Künstlern ersteigern. Photos tell a story "Photography is an unambiguous and, in our time, most familiar form of communication. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter - the social media virtually thrive on it. That is precisely why we have given photography a large place in our art auction," explains Alan Cadmus. Maria Callas can be discovered next to John Lee Hooker. Joseph Beuys follows Neo Rauch, Damien Hirst, Klaus Steack, Vera Mercer or Gottfried Helnwein. They are joined by many artists from the current Berlin art scene. Mararet Hunter is back, as are Francis Kéré, Nils Unbehagen and Dirk Bleyer. The Rotarian idea knows no borders "Diébédo Francis Kéré is a German architect who was born in Burkina Faso." This quote from Wikipedia describes in all simplicity the idea of Rotary Clubs all over the world: the connecting and sharing togetherness that knows no borders, but builds bridges. And it is not for nothing that Francis Kéré is virtually a role model for this "balancing act". "He was able to study in Berlin, has an architectural office in Berlin himself, but he lives and works for - or rather - with the people in his village," explains Sven Hoffmann. "Kéré works out his projects there with the village community, which are dedicated to sustainability and the natural climate concept. Art, architecture and a friendship As in previous years, half of the proceeds from the art auction will be given to the ""Kéré Foundation"" so that the urgently needed water house can be completed. - "The artists and submitters leave fifty percent of the bid to us. It is important for the Rotary Club BerlinGedächtniskirche that there is no discrimination, otherwise we would not be able to maintain the quality in the long run," says Sven Hoffmann, who as publisher realises a photo edition for each auction together with Francis Kéré. Once again, the two have realised a motif together: "Serpentine I" in a format of 30 x 45 cm and an edition of 12 copies. "A first meeting has led over time to a friendship, a mutual respect and - this is also part of the togetherness - a collaboration. - Our edition is a kind of foundation stone - and we have enough ideas." The online catalogue to be published for the auction contains all the works by the more than 50 artists from 14 nations.
