Imposing bronze coloured patinated zamak image of an athletic male figure with his animal 'La Force Domptée'. Made by Émile Picault, a French sculptor who grew up in Royer. He exhibited in the Salon in Paris from 1863. Some of his works can be seen in museums, among others Clermont-Ferrand and Maubeuge.
This beautiful sculpture is signed by the maker on the base and features the text ‘La Force Domptée’. The man wears a shield with the text: 'Caput Manum Ducit', meaning ‘The head leads the hand’.
The sculpture has a very warm patina and has beautiful fine details. The body and the musculature of the man are beautifully designed. A zamak sculpture of this size and quality is rarely offered for sale.
