This was a personal gift from Alan Gray to Doreen and Alan for New Year 1989.
Born 1927 and lived in Ilford, Essex. Landscape artist, mainly watercolours, film artist, animator. Studied St Martins School of Art, London from 1940-45. National service in coal mines, Yorkshire. Returned to St Martins School of Art Worked for Rank Organisation, Cookham as background artist for animated films for the tourist board etc., then joined Saxon Artists Ltd (Agency), Oxford Street, London. Worked as a film designer and background artist for animations, sponsored by ICI. Exhibited work at the Royal Academy, 1949–1951. As freelance, worked on the Yellow Submarine film with Universal Pictures for Beatles as layout artist, then as animator for commercial educational films. In 1989 worked on film by Steven Spielberg ‘An American Tail’ before retiring
