Exceptional Hermès tie, limited edition made exclusively for the famous car race 24 h Le Mans. In very good condition, blue background with car pattern in yellow and white. Length: approx. 157 cm, maximum width: 8 cm. Comes in original Hermès box. Ref. number: 5316 TA. 100% silk. Please note that there is just one point of the internal label not attached well, the thread is there but has come loose (see photos). These ties have never been sold in the brand's boutiques. Towards the middle of the 1960s, Hermès introduced a special tie to celebrate the most famous car race of the world: Le Mans 24 Hours. The ties were not sold in their shops, but were given to competitors during the trials. The original design was kept until 1971. In that year, a new design appeared, followed by another one in 1974. Over the years, the new designs were released more frequently. Although not available in their normal shops, a limited number of ties could be purchased in a shop that Hermès specifically set up in the Le Mans paddock during the 24 hours. In 1988 a new model started. The same design was kept for two or three years, but the colour combination changed every year. Things changed again in 2000. From then on, the design was not only renewed every year, but it was offered at the same time in two (2000-2006), and sometimes in three, four or even five (2009) choices of colour. 2009 was the last year Hermès designed a tie for Le Mans, ending a period of over 40 years celebrating the greatest race in the world. During that period, the patterns varied and included cars in various configurations or various graphic plays with the number 24.
