Beautiful vintage Elgé Chamonix in a large size, fully steel case and tropical dial. A men's wristwatch from the 1950s. Elgé Montres Lantaz Frères was one of the last watch manufacturers in the French Savoie region. Unfortunately this brand was did not survive the crisis, which has been fatal for so many brands. - Stainless steel case of 35 mm x 42.5 mm from lug to lug Nice and large! - Tropical dial. Colour from deep black to brown-anthracite, depending on the light. - Beautiful original domed crystal. Typical 1950s. - Beautifully shaped, pointed hands. - Elongated hour markers of which every other 2 hour numbers are used. - Elegantly shaped lugs with facet edge - Second subdial - Screwed and beautifully decorated case back. A watch of nearly 70 years old with a unique and beautiful appearance, technically as well as optically in neat condition. The original glass has a few minor spots and of course the case has a few minor signs of wear, but overall in very good condition! Technically the watch is in good working order. The mechanical movement keeps time well and winds smoothly. The time adjustment also works properly. The watch comes on a nicely matching strap suitable up to 19.5 cm.
