This is fairly rare Seiko 6138-8000 “Baby Panda” chronograph. This is the first automatic chronograph of Seiko and most probably in watch making history as iSeiko was one of the puoneers along with Zenith and Heuer in the race for the first automatic chronograph. The specific watch has been has been produced in October of 1971 as the serial number indicates. Worn regularly and used a lot for about 12-15 years. It does show signs of usage like small scuffs and scratces. The dial has some blemishes from age and non use. The band is a period correct Seiko mesh band. The watch is original, fully serviced, fully functional with very sharp chronograph operation and smooth changing of date and time, exactly as it should. Be careful. This is not the 6138-8020 or the 6138-8040. The affectionately called by collectors “Baby Panda”,is 38mm case size and is a much more sought after model which commands usually higher prices.
