The intertwined black fragments, one on top of each other, create a dark world, illuminated by red, like a newborn flower, the power of emotions. The artist creates these bas-reliefs with recycled materials to give new life and new meanings to abandoned items. In this work he used wooden planks cut into triangles of various dimensions, glued on a wooden base, then painted with watercolours. Paolo Contin has a long artistic career. He studied in the world of design, and since 1980 he has been working in the field of fashion and art. In 1999 he started to exhibit his works; in 2002 he held his first solo exhibition in Padua, followed by many exhibitions in Italy and abroad, including in Copenhagen, Munich, Brussels, Istanbul, Buenos Aires, and Sydney.
