Viña Real is one of the wineries belonging toCVNE (Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España) located in Laguardia, Rioja Alavesa. In the 1920s CVNE launched the Viña Real brand, being one of the pioneers in the production of wines aged in oak barrels in this area, producing very elegant wines with all the character of the Rioja Alavesa. The proximity of the vineyards to the old Camino Real was what inspired its name. These vineyards slope down from the Sierra Cantabria to the Ebro basin, lying on mostly clayey and chalky soils, thus being protected from the clearly Atlantic climate of the area by the mountains.
