We present this Mechak or chuckmuk, a portable bag whose base is made of yak leather and adorned and decorated with prominent Tibetan turquoise and embossed and stamped metal mounts.
Mechaks were commonly used in Tibet to carry a flint stone and some kind of tinder for making fire.
These bags are highly decorated and were often worn as ornaments by Baghu women, tied to belts and hung like castles. This chuckmuk is in good antique condition with wear in line with its age and use. A definite beauty and highly collectible. These are becoming increasingly rare.
