2020 Joseph Drouhin, Clos de Mouches - Beaune 1er Cru - 1 Flasche (0,75Â l)
The premier cru Clos de Mouches was originally an orchard where numerous hives were located for the production of honey; the bees, in the local dialect "mouches à miel", free to buzz among the flowers, gave their name to what would become one of the best vineyards in the Beaune denomination in the 1920s.
The wine is subsequently aged in oak barriques (20% of which are first passage) for a period of between 14 and 18 months.
After bottling, the wine rests for a long time in the cellars before being put on the market.
Bright ruby red, clear and intense, it expresses aromas of red fruits and currants. In the mouth it is fresh, with good structure and enveloping tannins; notes of wild cherry and blueberry blend with hints of liquorice and tobacco. Balancedly acidic and with a very long finish, it demonstrates all the peculiarities of the great Burgundy wines.
