2002 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru - Domaine Hubert Lignier - Bourgogne - 1 Flasche (0,75Â l)
Clos de la Roche is one of the Grand Crus of the municipality of Morey-Saint-Denis and borders Gevrey. The wine of the same name follows the delicately full-bodied appearance of the wines of the nearby village and is recommended to be tasted after at least ten years of rest in the cellar. The grapes come from the vineyards of two parcels (0.9 hectares): Monts Luisants, a relief with a slope of 25%, with vines planted between 1955 and 1965, and Fremières, with vines planted between 1953 and 1960. The terroir is composed of poor soil, with the presence of white limestone, clay and marl. The agriculture is organic and the manual harvest is characterized by rigorous selection (low yields).
The winemaking takes place in the most natural way possible (indigenous yeasts) and the wine is aged for a very long period of time which can last from 21 to 22 months. It has a light ruby red color and the bouquet expresses aromas of red berries (strawberry, cherry), floral notes (violet), hints of sweet spices and undergrowth. On the palate it is an aromatic marvel, it is dense and complex. Its power and intensity make it a cru of extraordinary elegance. Serve it at 16°C and pair it with chicken with morels, a fricassee of veal kidneys or a spit-roasted duck.
