Omega Suverän is a highly special model that was made exclusively for the Swedish market during World War II. This watch is a gorgeous and elegant piece, that has fascinating history which reflects the political and economic situation of Sweden at the time. Sweden was one of the few countries that remained neutral during World War II, along Switzerland and some other countries. However, being neutral did not mean being unaffected by the war in the economic sense. One of the ways that Sweden tried to cope with the war, was to boost its economy and finance their armed forces. The Swedish government made an agreement with Omega to buy a special model from them in order to sell to the public in Sweden, which was a way for raising funds. Omega then created a special model that was named Omega Suverän, which means sovereign in Swedish, to reflect the status of Sweden as a neutral state. The dial features a military-inspired design with a two-tone color scheme in black/grey and white, adorned with 11 Roman numerals and a sub-second dial at the 6 o’clock position. The case comes in stainless steel and bears signs of it's journey through time with remarks to some scratches and dents on case/back, aswell as some light scratches on the crystal.
