This is an iron tsuba (sword guard) featuring a golden Uchide no Kozuchi, or Lucky Mallet. In Japan, the Lucky Mallet is considered a treasure that brings fortune, as it is believed to grant any wish or produce anything one desires by simply stating the wish and waving the mallet.
Despite its age, it is in good condition. There are some areas of rust, so please refer to the photos for details.
