Born in Osaka, Hakuhō initially studied Ukiyo-e before shifting to Japanese-style painting at the Naniwa Art School. Under the guidance of Nishiyama Kanei, Takebe honed his skills, especially in portraiture and kachō-ga (bird-and-flower painting). His work, characterized by precise landscape depictions, gained him popularity in the Osaka art scene. This scroll features a meticulously detailed depiction of samurai armor and accoutrements, all rendered in fine silk. The central image showcases an intricately designed suit of armor, complete with a kabuto helmet adorned with a dragon motif, a symbol of strength and protection. Below, the armor rests on an elegantly painted wooden stand, flanked by various traditional accessories that further emphasize the samurai’s preparedness and dignity. The fabric surrounding the artwork is subtly patterned, with a calming blue and green palette that complements the painting's own hues. The wooden ends of the scroll add a classic touch to this exquisite piece. Please note, due to age, there is some wear visible in the form of stains and a few small holes in the fabric bordering the painting. The overall condition can be seen in the accompanying photographs. Dimensions: approx. H 193.5 cm W 56.3 cm ・Please make sure to review all the provided information and images before placing your bid. ・We make every effort to accurately represent the product's colors and textures in our photos.
