A very impressive Ottoman Empire silver-metal ring. It presents a raised rectangular bezel set with a red hardstone intaglio showing a scorpion, through the incorporation of four prongs. Two incised dots enrich the background. The intaglio decoration served as a stamp or a seal, illustrating a protective symbol or the heraldry of the owner. The raised bezel presents a trapezoid shape and is decorated on all sides with twisted lines resembling foliage. The shoulders are modelled in the form of rectangular bars with incised curves while the ring band is large, narrowing towards the back and is also decorated with similar foliage motifs. Good solid condition, wearable. Signs of wear consistent with age and use. Minor chip to the back of the ring band.
