Here is a limited edition hand crafted imitation of goddess Isis standing in her beautiful dress. Background about Isis: "I am all that has been and is and will be" is how an inscription on one of her countless statues characterises the "magical" and the "goddess with the 10,000 names". Isis For the ancient Egyptians, she was the goddess of motherhood, women and childbirth. She was considered the mother of the gods and the tutelary goddess of the reigning pharaoh. History: This figure model is imitated from the original statue that was one of the four tutelary goddesses who guarded the shrine containing the entrails of the mummified Tutankhamun. The goddesses were supposed to protect the pharaoh in the afterlife and keep dangers away from him. The shrine with the goddesses was discovered in a room right next to the coffin chamber. Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, c. 1335 BC. Original: Egyptian Museum, Cairo, Tutankhamun's treasure. Figure model, hand-cast and hand-gilded. Height incl. black marble pedestal 32 cm. Important note about the condition of the figure: - The left had and part of the crown were broken and have been restored. - The photos have been taken under artificial light, therefore the golden shiningness could be different under diffirent lighting.
