A collection of different coloured and designed glass disc-beads. They were originally produced in the Czech region of Bohemia in the 1960-70's. Exported to West-Africa, expecially to Ghana, were they were popular with the Ashanti-people. These beads were made by pressing two halves of glass into a mould. One long green string with white glass dots is 42 cm long. (12 mm. wide). The uni-colour green rope is 43 cm long and had 9mm wide beads. The yellow-red string is 39 cm long and has 11 mm. wide beads. The blue string ( the raffia thread has broken), is 26 cm. long and has beads 8mm. wide. Finally a rope is presented, ready to wear, of glass beads of different designs and colours. Lenght of this necklace is 34 cm. long and with 10 mm. wide beads. All ropes were collected in the city of Kumasi in the 1990's.
