Mesopotamien Gold Zylindrisches Siegel. 3.-1. Jahrtausend v. Chr. Länge 1,6 cm.
Nr. 83042257
Nr. 83042257
A Western Asiatic ring with a central oval garnet surrounded by a gold oval frame and featuring an electrum round wire-like section hoop. The back of the frame displays evidence of two precious horizontal projections, suggesting the piece could have originally been an appliqué turned into a ring in antiquity. The band seems to have been later repaired.
Jewellery played an important role across many Near Eastern civilisations. Gold necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets would have been worn in everyday life but also buried with the deceased.
Measurements: Internal diameter circa 1.5cm, closest UK ring size G.
Weight: 0.7g
Provenance: Ex Japanese gentleman (deceased) collection, 1970 - 2010.
