For sale rare and elegant men's tank style wristwatch! The watch is made by Louis Müller SA - Fabrique d'Horlogerie La Champagne. First, I will tell you a little about the history of the manufacturer. Watch factory "La Champagne" - Louis Müller & Cie. SA Swiss watch manufacturer 1854–1961 La Champagne is a pocket watch manufacturing company founded in 1854 by Louis Müller-Finkbeiner in the Canton of Bern, Nidau Municipality. The name comes from the rural area where the company is located. The founder moved the company to the city of Biel in the same canton back in 1858. A branch office was established in Delémont, the capital of the canton of Jura, in 1873. When the entrepreneur died in 1890, his widow Carolina (née Carolina). Finkbeiner) and his son Louis Müller (1864–1943), who studied watchmaking, continued the business. In January 1893, the company name Louis Müller &; Cie. (Compagnie) was registered. At the turn of the century, the company was already known for its wide range of high-quality clockwork from 5.5 to 17 lines. Name change Fabrique d'Horlogerie "La Champagne" - Louis Müller&; Cie was registered in May 1906. For international exports, the name Champ Watch Co. was adopted in 1912. Most exports went to the United States, Canada, Britain, India and Japan. In 1916, the limited liability company form was changed to Louis Müller S.A. (Société Anonyme). Louis Müller &; Cie. SA watches and trademarks were at least; Mars, Dido, Aster, Luna, La Champagne, Paradis, Champ. They also subcontracted parts and movements to other watch companies. In addition, they held several patents for clockwork and manufacturing technology, for example an automatic drive module for clockwork from 1932 (patent granted in 1934). Among others, BULOVA used this self-propelled mechanism. At the end of the 1920s, the company developed and manufactured several very thin watch movements. The use of small ball bearings in latch structures and machinery was also developed in the company. This led to a patented manufacturing process and the establishment of a separate subsidiary manufacturing ball bearings; Roulements à Billes Miniature SA. After joining ASUAG (Allgemeine Schweizerische Uhrenindustrie Aktiengesellschaft), a group of companies founded in 1931 to mitigate the then crisis in the Swiss watch industry (1931), they gave up manufacturing their own machinery and ordered them from ASUAG and Ebauches SA (ESA now ETA). Louis Müller SA went bankrupt in 1959 and was permanently dissolved in March 1961. (Nicolet Watch SA acquired the rights to the La Champagne brand) Then the watch itself! The caliber of the machinery is a manual-driven 15 jewels La Champagne cal manufactured by them. 28–20. The year of manufacture is likely to be in the late 1920s (1928-1929). The movement is very high-quality and stylish. The movement works flawlessly and is light to pull up and set the time. Throwing about 30 seconds per day. The watch cases are made of stainless steel (staybrite). The shells have remained in incredibly good condition and they have a really nice art deco style. The original glaze has been replaced at some point with a new hand-polished glaze that slightly distorts the dial from the upper and lower corners. The glass is in good condition, there is a slight trace of use. The dial is really cool and the second hand position at 12 o'clock gives the watch face a new look and that is what makes this watch special. The painting is neat and doesn't really show any traces. The blue hands dyed by heating are also in good condition. However, I think the dial might have been restored at some point. A watch at this age should already have some sign of aging on the board. The bracelet is a black Diplomat branded leather strap, which is already slightly worn out. I give a new strap of similar brown color.
