Biography Onishi Keisai (1773-1829) Painter of the late Edo period. Born in An'ei 2. Born in Edo. His name was Kou or Makoto. His nickname was Kokkyo, Shukumei. His aliases are Yukei Shochi-dojin, Issai-Enkyaku, and Koun. Studied under Shiko Sorin and Tani Buncho. He excelled at flower-and-bird paintings and served in the Okudaira family of the Buzen Nakatsu Domain (Oita Prefecture). He died in the 12th year of Bunsei era at the age of 57.
