This butsudan features a striking black lacquer finish complemented by gold powder lacquered interiors, exuding an aura of reverence and tradition. The central lock mechanism secures the elaborately detailed doors, which open to reveal intricate carvings of individuals beneath cherry blossom trees and various ornamental elements. Notably, there is some damage to the carvings, with parts missing or detached, highlighting its authentic vintage character. Inside, the butsudan houses a sacred space with hanging lanterns, traditionally lit, although the electrical functionality was not verified at the time of listing. Below, the artistry continues with relief carvings of cherry blossoms and birds. Additional storage is provided by sliding doors decorated with lotus flowers, indicative of purity in Buddhist symbolism, and a shallow drawer for ritual implements, showing signs of wear such as stains, indicative of its age and use. The altar stands on a sturdy base with additional 2 top drawers, a large bottom drawer and a pull-out table. This butsudan bears marks of time with visible wear, some stains, tarnish to metal fixtures, small scratches, and some tears in the internal door(Upper left part). Please refer to the photos for a comprehensive condition check. Shipping will utilize FedEx's heavy item special discounted service. Availability of this service varies depending on the postal code and municipality of the destination.
