Kushi'dai 櫛台 (Frisierständer) - Holz, Kupfer, Lack - Japan - Zweite Hälfte der Edo-Zeit (1700–1868)
Pretty, lacquered kushi'dai 櫛台 (coiffure stand) decorated with a covering design of peonies 牡丹 (botan) with scrolling vines. Executed in gold and silver hiramaki-e 平蒔絵 (low-relief lacquer design) on a dark brown substrate.
Designed with a lidded container on top, above an open gallery, and fived drawers of different sizes. The drawers are fitted with copper knobs with adorned with embossed crests 紋 (mon) of ‘5-7-5 paulownia’s’ 五七桐 (go-shichi kiri).
Period: Japan – Second half Edo period (1700-1868).
Dimensions:
Height 37.3 cm, Width 30.2 cm, Depth 19.7 cm.
Considering its age in a good condition with traces wear (lacquer loss) and old restorations. Please look at the photos for a clear condition reference.
Including lacquered wooden tomobako 供箱 (storage box) with iron handles for easy transport.
