This scroll comes with an appraised box by Tajika Chikuson 田近竹邨 (1864-1926) 田能村竹田 Tanomura Chikuden (1777-1835) Nanga painter of the late Edo period, representative of the literati painting circles of the late Edo period. He lived a free literary life while visiting Nagasaki, Osaka, and Kyoto. He established his own style of painting with delicate brushstrokes, faithful to the style of Nanga (Southern-style painting) and with a high degree of dignity. with signature 'Chikuden sei' 竹田生 and seal 'Ken in' 憲印 'Chikuden' 竹田 田近竹邨 Tajika Chikuson (1864-1926) Nanga artist of the Meiji - Taisho period. Born in Takeda, Bungo Province. Studied nanga under Fuchino Keisen, and later went to Kyoto to study under Tanomura Chokunyu at the Kyoto School of Painting. Founded the Japan Nanga Academy with Komuro Suiun, Yamada Kaido and others, and devoted himself to the development of the nanga world in the Taisho era. 田能村竹田 Tanomura Chikuden (1777-1835)
Nanga painter of the late Edo period, representative of the literati painting circles of the late Edo period. He lived a free literary life while visiting Nagasaki, Osaka, and Kyoto.
