Edo Chirimen 江戸縮緬 Japanischer antiker Seidenkrepp - Seide - Japan - Späte Edo-Zeit

Chirimen(縮緬 crepe) is a type of shrink-woven silk textile. Among them, Edo chirimen (江戸縮緬) is one of the most highly regarded silk textiles among old textiles in Japan. Edo chirimen (Edo crepe) often refers to crepe from the late Edo period to the early Meiji period, because its fineness, thinness, and smooth texture are clearly different from those after that period. The silk thread itself is fine and delicate, the cloth has a sense of transparency, and there are unique things such as dyeing with plants and trees and hand-painting. Furthermore, the colors of dyeing and weaving were restricted by the prohibition of extravagance until the Edo period (1603-1868), so the colors are characterized by their subdued tones. This Sodenashi(袖無し as a vest) was made of Edo chirimen. Sodenashi is a general term for sleeve-less(sode-nashi) jackets. Various motifs are drawn in a variety of colors, including flowers, grass, leaves, fans, and birds. The lining is cotton, dyed by Japanese madder. Size: Width: 70cm Length: 68cm Condition: There are stains and several small holes in the outer . Other than that, it is in very good condition. Please see pictures detail.
