Kimono’ishô’dansu 着物衣装箪笥 (Kimono-Schubladenschrank) - Holz, Metall, Paulownia/Kiri-Holz - Japan - Taishô-Zeit (1912-1926)
Delightful wooden kimono’ishô’dansu 着物衣装箪笥 (kimono cabinet of drawers) in two sections. Fully restored, cleaned and waxed in Japan.
It is made of indigenous kiri (paulownia) wood varnished in a sought after warm brown hue, a colour that we like to call ‘golden oak’.
Each section is outfitted with two full-width drawers, enhanced by elegantly shaped ‘Art Deco’-style hardware at the corners. The drawers boast ‘hako’-shaped bail handles that sit flush within ‘cushion’-shaped escutcheons, and are accented by diamond-shaped lock plates resembling chrysanthemum flowers 菊 (kiku).
For added functionality, the sides of the lower section include retractable “pole carrying” handles, facilitating easy transportation and secure attachment of the upper part.
Dimensions:
Height 100.2 cm, Width 91 cm, Depth 40.8 cm.
Period: Japan –Taishô period (1912-1926).
The kimono cabinet is in a very good completely resorted condition. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
When shipped we will add a certificate of authenticity.
