【Important notes】

・International Buyers: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility.
・Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying. These duties are paid to your country's customs office and not to us. Prompt payment of these fees is necessary to ensure delivery of your item.
・We deeply value your understanding regarding the blade's export process. The duration to secure an export permit might extend up to 3-4 weeks, and shipping, based on the destination, could take an additional month. In some instances, sea freight may be chosen, which might lengthen the delivery period to 2-3 months.
・Considering the diligence required for export permit procedures, we'd like to emphasize the importance of commitment after purchase. If the auction is annulled post-confirmation, there's a need to retract the said permit. In such situations, to cover administrative efforts, a fee equating to 10% of the auction's final amount would be requested via PayPal.
・We kindly request bids from those who fully acknowledge these conditions. Please be informed that the original registration document is required to be returned to official authorities, so a copy will be provided with the sword.

【Product details】

Immerse yourself in the rich heritage of the Edo period with this exquisite Japanese Katana, a masterwork attributed to the renowned swordsmith Echizen Kanetsugu. This blade, though unsigned, has been officially recognized by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai (NBTHK) as a "Specially Precious Sword”.

Crafted during the vibrant Mid-Edo period, the sword exemplifies the distinguished craftsmanship of the Echizen Kanetsugu lineage, known for their exceptional skill in forging blades of remarkable quality and resilience. The first generation Kanetsugu, originating from Mino Province, settled in Echizen Ichijodani and continued the legacy through four generations, shaping the history of Japanese sword making.

This katana bears the esteemed calligraphy of Sato Kanichi, a noted sword scholar known by his pseudonym “Kanzan,” validating its origin as a creation of Echizen Kanetsugu. Sato, a former executive director of NBTHK and deputy director of the Sword Museum in Sumida, Tokyo, lends credibility and historical depth to this remarkable piece.

Accompanied by a copy of registration certificate from Tokyo Metropolitan Government, this katana is meticulously detailed with a blade length of 68.7 cm and a curvature of 1.5 cm, featuring a single peg hole. Its pristine white scabbard, measuring 99.2 cm, enhances the sword's elegance and mystique. This piece was officially registered on January 18th, 1977 (Showa 52). Original certificate will be returned to the authority.

With some signs of wear and minor blade imperfections adding to its authentic charm, this katana is not just a piece of Japanese history but a testament to the enduring legacy of the samurai spirit.
Minor scratches are visible on the tip of the blade. Please refer to the photos.
The stand is not included with the purchase.

Length of the blade: 93.4 cm
Length of scabbard: 99.2 cm
