Khorasan Bronze Bottle
Circa 8th-9th century AD
This lovely bronze flask features a pear-shaped design with a raised base and a narrow neck ending in a circular terminus. The body is adorned with rows of drop-shaped protrusions, while small circular protrusions decorate the opening.
These bottles were vessels primarily used for storing and dispensing perfumes, aromatic oils, and other fragrant substances. They were typically crafted from bronze, a durable and malleable metal that allowed for intricate designs and decorative elements. The bottles often featured elegant shapes and forms, with slender necks and bulbous bodies conducive to holding fragrant liquids. Some bottles were adorned with intricate engravings, inscriptions, or inlaid decorations.
