Exquisite antique Victorian 18ct yellow gold statement brooch in Etruscan Revival style. Centred with a huge oval faceted amethyst that is raised in an openwork foliate setting. The gold is etched and engraved with wriggle work borders and decorated with filigree cannetille rope-work and applied bead and leaf design in the form of berry plants. Wonderful deep and rich purple hue to the gemstone. 13.24 g 5.6 x 2.6 x 1.2 cm Amethyst approximately 28 ct. Assay office: Birmingham Date: 1892 Very good antique condition. Small ding along the border on reverse; one of the ball decorations is pierced; part of the applied rope decoration is lacking in one place; tiny fleabites to stone; tiny split along the decorative pierced border. The parcel will be sent fully insured and tracked.
