Lorestan Bronze Dolch (Ohne Mindestpreis)

Bronze dagger from Luristan This object dates from about 1000 years BC. And it originally comes from the west of Iran, from the rugged mountain area of Luristan. The bronze work from Luristan is famous for its good quality and high craftsmanship. The bronze objects were mainly found in burial grounds. These are probably the graves of a traveling people, because no settlements have yet been found near the burial grounds. The stabbing weapons at that time were mainly small, as bronze is a brittle metal. They are good for stabbing, but if two bronze weapons were struck together with force, as with swords, they would undoubtedly break on the first blow. The Luristan culture housed the best weapon smiths of there time. But they were also employed by the Greek city states. The highest bidders determined where these masters of arms were employed.
