Magnificent Art Deco porcelain sculpture of two galloping white horses “In Freedom”/“In Freiheit” (original German title), modelled by the famous artist Max Hermann Fritz (1873 - 1948) for Lorenz Hutschenreuther Kunstabteilung Bavaria around 1930’s in excellent condition. It depicts a pair of gorgeous white horses galloping, sculpted in exquisite detail, on a low oval base supported by a clump of grasses, polychrome hand painted and signed M.H.Fritz under the glaze. Max Hermann Fritz (1873 - 1948), was a famous sculptor who studied under Lorenz Hutschenreuther in Art Department of the factory in Fraureuth and in terms of porcelain create also for Rosenthal Porcelain Manufactory. Max H. Fritz, made some 70 designs of figural art for the Art Department of the L. Hutschenreuther AG factory in Selb between 1927 and 1939. Many of his works are exhibited in museums in Dresden and elsewhere in Saxony. Hutschenreuther porcelain is famous all over the world. Founded in 1814 by the family patriarch, Carolus Magnus Hutschenreuther and later on merged with Lorentz Hutschenreuther Art Department, has remained within the family for nearly two hundred years. Lorentz Hutschenreuther, Selb (LHS), produced the most collectible horses in their line, no longer available as the company was purchased in 2000 by Rosenthal. Hutschenreuther’s primary horse modelleurs were Helmut Diller, M.H.Fritz, Carl Werner, Karl Tutter, Hans Achtziger, Gunther Granget and Professor Paul Scheurich. It is in excellent more to pristine condition, marked on the back of the base , beautifully sculpted and glazed, tiny fire crack under the factory glaze barely visible, impressed name of the sculptor M.H.Fritz on the side of the base, NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs, please see the pictures as they are part of description.
