The train set that set the record on May 18, 1990 for conventional trains (thus magnetic levitation trains were excluded). There were several test runs held at very high speeds. On 13 February 2007 a shortened TGV train set a speed record of 559 km/h in an unofficial test. The speed record of 515.3 km/h that the TGV Atlantique had set on 18 May 1990 was thus bettered. On 3rd April 2007 with a specially prepared TGV duplex in the framework of the V150 programme (150 m/s = 540 km/h) they achieved a speed of 574.8 km/h on the route LGV Est. The TGV is the fastest conventional train in the world, only the Maglev trans can achieve higher speeds. The photos are an integral part of the description of this lot.
