Fully restored B8X72a tube radio from Philips. Chassis has been completely rebuilt. Volume potentiometer replaced by new original. All “ropes replaced”. Chassis cleaned and free of smoking damage and 50 years of dust. Cabinet is in reasonable condition, has signs of wear, but is in very good condition. All expired tubes have been replaced. Fish eye tube replaced (cat’s eye). All dust plates on the back are present. The tone control consists of 5 sliding contacts, operated by the 5 small brown buttons on the front side with the words “Fidelità / Dolce / Mezzoforte / Forte / Parola”. The volume of the settings “Dolce/Mezzoforte/Forte” are controlled by a potentiometer on the back side of the radio. This is the so-called Stabilotone. The volume for the settings “Fidelità and Parola” are controlled with the ‘normal’ potentiometer on the front side of the radio. The “Parola” buttons is meant for speech, the “Fidelità” button is the Hi-Q setting of the radio and primarily intended for playing records via a (extra) record player. Each option has its own indicator light: Fidelità: behind a window with the text “Hi-Q”, a white light will light up. Dolce: a green light will light up Mezzoforte: a green and red light will light up Forte: a red light will light up Parola: behind a window with the image of a head, a white light will light up.
