Porcelain cards were mainly produced in Belgium, roughly during the reign of Leopold I. Ghent, Brussels and Bruges in particular acted as the beating heart of the porcelain card industry. The printing technique was mainly used for the production of business cards from shops, factories, the self-employed, societies, schools and the like, but also for menus and concert programs.
Nowadays, porcelain cards are seen as a unique view of life in the nineteenth century.
