Fiat - 850 Idroconvert NO RESERVE - 1969

The Fiat 850 was produced from 1964 to 1973 as a successor to the successful Fiat 600. There were different versions available such as the 2-door saloon (tipo 100G), Speciale, Familiare, Coupé & Spider (convertible). The basic model was available with two engine types which marked a further development of the Fiat 600. The first engine option was on its Italian "normal" (standard) with engine code 100G.000 and 34 hp. One could choose for the "super" with engine code 100G.002 and 37 hp. The top speed was around 125 km/h. This car was delivered new in Belgium in September 1969 by ‘S.A. BELGIO n.v.' in Waterloo. It is a Fiat 850 with the 'super' engine version with engine code 100G.002 and the rare Idroconvert semi-automatic gearbox. An inspection plate in the engine space shows its history. The car has original Belgian papers, only notice needs to be given to the Dutch vehicle authority (RDW) for a Dutch registration (if needed). The original registration shows it comes from the second owner who had it since 06-10-1971! Its azure blue colour (officially Azzurro Acquamarina 433) gives this fun classic the right look when driving on a beautiful summer’s day. The paint has a beautiful patina (as it is often called), it’s not totally immaculate. However, it does not need to be resprayed, it’s fine to be enjoyed as it is. There’s the odd spot in places, in general the sheet metal doesn’t have any significant dents, it’s neat for a 51-year-old car. Some parts have been repainted in the past. The chrome is in good condition. When getting in you notice straight away that the apparently original interior is in very good condition. The odometer reading is 42,194 km. Given the quality of the car, it is plausible this reading is correct and not a reading which has gone full circle. The car comes with one original set of keys. KCC did a full technical check as it had stood still for at least 10 years. Four new tyres were fitted, the rims were resprayed in silver. After standing still for so long the carburettor wasn’t working and the car wouldn’t start. The entire carburettor (Weber 28ICP1) has been overhauled and fitted with ethanol-resistant gaskets. The fuel pump has been replaced for a new one. All fuel lines from the tank have been replaced (also for ethanol-resistant ones), a new fuel filter has been installed and we have manually pumped the tank out to remove old dirty fuel. It has E5 (Euro 98) unleaded petrol. The spark plugs have been replaced as well as both v-belts. The electrics have been checked and everything works properly, however the dynamo light comes on. This needs some attention. There is a new battery including a switch for disconnecting if it’s going to be standing still for a long time. This is to maintain the battery life. The car can be viewed and picked up in Wateringen, the Netherlands. Any transport is possible by mutual agreement. Additional costs regarding transport, arranging a registration, (Dutch) periodic vehicle inspection and/or ascription are for the buyer.
