Juli 1956 in London, britischer Fotograf. Stuart Franklin studierte Fotografie am West Surrey College of Art and Design. Seit 1985 ist er Mitglied bei Magnum Photos. Dort wurde Franklin 1989 Vollmitglied und führte die Agentur von 2006 bis 2009 als Präsident. Während des Massakers am Tian’anmen Platz 1989 fotografierte Franklin den später Tank Man genannten Demonstranten, der die Reihe der Panzer stoppte. Mit diesem Foto gewann er den dritten Preis in der Kategorie Aktuelle Berichterstattung bei der Wahl zum Pressefoto des Jahres. Er veröffentlichte seine Fotografien in zahlreichen Publikationen, darunter The Guardian, Sunday Times Magazine, Geo, Art Magazine, Harper's Magazine und National Geographic Magazine.
