Magnificent vintage Aelteste Volkstedter figurines depicting children merchants, in excellent condition. All are hand painted, on a rococo style base, beautiful details and great glaze finished. The "Aelteste Volkstedt" was founded in 1762, being the oldest working porcelain manufactory in Thuringia. Its founding dates back to Georg Heinrich Macheleid who deciphered the composition for the right porcelain paste, the "Arkanum", in 1760. Artistic pieces from the Aeltesten Volkstedter Porzellanmanufaktur are highly regarded among connoisseurs and collectors.
