Notes on the origins and significance of the SK 4/ 5/ 6 series are listed in the "basic model" Braun SK 4. The SK 4/1 model followed in 1957, only a few months after the introduction of the SK 4 with the following changes: 5-stud platter support, separate height/depth controls, rounded plate cut-out in the glass lid and with a modified connection panel on the back.
Model: SK 4/1 Phono super with separate treble/bass boost. Wave ranges: FM: 87 – 100 MHz, MW: 510 – 1,640 kHz. Built-in power antenna for VHF/MW, capacitive (20 pF) coupled to power cable. Turntable: PC 3 with double sapphire normal + micro groove, 4 speed, 78 / 45 / 331/3 / 162/3 Pickups: Schumann SK 451, needle M=5500 / N=5501 Loudspeakers: Type Isophon P 1725 /19/ 80, can be switched off (only allowed if additional speakers are connected). White lacquered metal housing with wooden side panels (elm veneer) and acrylic glass lid, all knobs and buttons in light grey. Connection panel with connections for external antenna VHF/MW (240 Ω input), add. Loudspeaker (banana jack), vertically operable on/off switch Speaker, tape, 3-pin diode jack for recording + playback.Net weight (2.2 lb = 1 kg) 11.4 kg / 25 lb 1.8 oz (25.11 lb).
