This intricate set comprises a helmet (kabuto) with a fearsome lion sculpture adorned in lacquer mixed with gold dust, face and neck protectors, body armor with abdominal wrapping, arm protectors, and leg protectors with traditional footwear. The storied wooden box, detailed with red lettering, reveals a rich history of the armor, including dates and names of samurai clans such as Okubo Noto-no-Kami, Hattori Yasuemon, and others, hinting at previous ownership and restorations dating back to the early 19th century. This armor bears the marks of time; with wear, stains, scratches, rust, and significant lacquer peel-off, cracking, and damage. The thigh guards have hanging threads indicating wear, and the box exhibits scratches, woodworm damage, and cracks. the kabuto does not fit into the box. Due to its delicate nature, potential buyers should be prepared for the possibility of condition worsening during shipment. The butterfly joints on the armor are damaged and no longer function as intended. A part of the armor chest's lid has been restored, and the overall state can be reviewed in the photos. While it requires maintenance, it could be a magnificent display piece for collectors who appreciate restoration. This lot will be shipped via FedEx to Sweden, Spain, Denmark, Poland, and the USA, and via EMS to other countries.
