The Doors – The Doors - is the debut studio album by American rock band The Doors, released on January 4, 1967 by Elektra Records. The album includes the extended version of the band's breakthrough single "Light My Fire" and the long closer "The End" with its Oedipal spoken word section. Various publications, including BBC and Rolling Stone, have ranked The Doors as one of the greatest debut albums of all time. The Doors worked on the material for their debut album throughout 1966 at various venues and stages, such as the Whiskey a Go Go. Recording of the album began after their release from the venue, having just signed with Elektra Records. The Doors' recording established the band's wide range of musical influences, including jazz, classical, blues, pop, R&B and rock music. It was largely viewed as an integral part of psychedelic rock's development, but was also considered a source of inspiration for numerous other works. The Doors and “Light My Fire” were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. In 2015, the Library of Congress selected The Doors for inclusion in the National Recording Registry because it was "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." “The Doors” sold over 13 million copies worldwide in 2015, making it the band's best-selling album.
