Grateful Dead – Wake Of The Flood /Promo - is the sixth studio album by The Grateful Dead, released in 1973. It was the band's first album after the death of founding member Ron “Pigpen” McKernan in 1973 and the first with keyboardist Keith Godchaux and his wife, backing vocalist Donna Godchaux, as official band members. The album showed the continuous development of the Grateful Dead's sound, which incorporated elements of jazz, folk and blues alongside their typical psychedelic rock style. “Wake of the Flood” contains notable tracks such as “Eyes of the World” and “Weather Report Suite”, which became staples of the band's live performances. Although the album received mixed reviews upon its release, it is now recognized as an important part of the Grateful Dead's discography, capturing a transitional period for the band as they broke new musical ground while honoring their roots.
