A Japanese sword of the Shoshu(Sagami) Masatoshi* type, recognized as a valuable sword by the Japan Art Blade Preservation Society, with an introduction to the identity of the sword which is written of "made on the auspicious day of February, the sixth year of Kayei 1853 in the late Edo period) The scabbard is also made of Japanese lacquer, and the Kozuka* is engraved with the words: Tajima Shuhojoji Tachibana Sadakuni* High-quality Japanese katana with all related fittings and excellent workmanship. Some metal parts of this katana were inlaid a samll dragon pattern which made of gold and silver, very beautiful and precious. The scabbard is Japanese lacquered A sword with a lot of history that will undoubtedly delight any room where it will be displayed. It belongs to the Tokaido region and corresponds to present-day Kanagawa Prefecture.Many Sōshu swords from the Koto period were generally short, and the common size of the sword was around 2 shaku 1 sun, about the size of a one-handed sword. *小柄Kozuka Kozuka is a small sword about 15cm long. It was used not only as a weapon in emergencies, but also for practical purposes such as carving wood and cutting paper. It is usually stored in a ``kozukabitsu'' (a small chest) located on the sashiura (the side of the koshira that touches the body when the sword is held at the waist). * 但馬守法城寺橘貞国 Tajima Shuhojoji Tachibana Sadakuni: Since the owner owned it as Hojoji Tachibana Sadakuni, I will explain it as Sadakuni. Sadakuni was the younger brother of Masahiro Hojoji, the head blacksmith of Omi Province at Hojoji Temple in Edo. He was a famous swordsmith who became the shogunate's blacksmith after Sadakuni's son, Tajima no kami Kunimasa, along with Echizen Yasutsugu.
