A traditional old fine Rioja wine inspired in the 19th century Bordeaux "claret" vinified and matured in wooden vat for 12 to 18 months, without temperature control, and then racked to cask where a selection of the finest barrels were chosen to be aged for 18 more years: 216 months. The wine was racked once every 6 months in the first 8 years using the traditional cask-to-cask method. Bottled in 1970 directly from the cask. Not filtered. Recorked in 1984. Vintage 1949 was an outstanding year in Rioja. This rare red wine was never placed on the market by the winery. Just a few hundred bottles were stored in the old "cemetery" cellar in Haro village.
